Snapshot for February 5

Snapshot for February 5

Thank you to everyone who attended TechFest and Jason’s Deli Spirit Night!  There was a great turn out!

Here is this week's snapshot if you are unable to get the e-mails. You can download the pdf file by clicking beneath the snapshot picture. All snapshots will be available in pdf form on the "Weekly Snapshots" page {here} once they are sent out and posted!

Next week, we will finish reading “Book the Second” ofTales of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo.  We will have a quiz on chapters 12-23 on Thursday. February 8.  A study guide will go home on Monday.  Our reading skill will be to determine the point of view of a passage or text.  Please see the links below for optional skills practice over these concepts.  In writing, students have been working on their Fractured Fairy Tale Project.  Next week, students will finish their rough drafts, take part in peer editing, and will start on their final copy.  Please see the attached rubric. This writing project will be on-going over the next few weeks.

For homework, we will have our 100 minutes of at home reading assignment due on Monday, February 12Click here for the spelling list for the week of February 2-9. The spelling homework and the quiz will be due on Friday, February 9. Many of you have already sent this homework in since we did not have to spelling last week due to MOCK STAAR.  Spelling City Certificates can also be submitted by email to my email address.  We do have a TimeForKids assignment for this week. On Friday, February 9, students will have to discuss the new magazine in class and will have a quiz over the “Meet the Influencers” article.  There will also be extra credit questions over other articles found in this week’s edition.  Please click here to see the digital version. Please click here to see the letter regarding a new, optional STAAR Prep Incentive Program that we will be starting in ELAR!

We have an exciting opportunity to be recognized by Rowlett’s City Council for all of our hard work during the City Brochure Project.  We have been invited to attend the session on February 6, 2018.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
