Last week, we were able to enjoy a fabulous field trip! Thank you so much to all of the parents and grandparents who helped us chaperone such a fun event!
This week, we will continue our fiction unit. Students will learn about the literary nonfiction genre and will work with texts such as Owl Moon by Jane Yolen and Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. We will also review skills such as identifying plot structure and character traits as we continue our novel study on Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo.
We will also be reviewing dictionary skills. There are great review and practice activities on both Study Island and Education Galaxy. I have also uploaded new BoomCard activities to help students review the skills we are currently learning. We will have a graded passage and dictionary skills activity on Friday, January 18. In Social Studies, we will learn about different type of communities, such as rural, urban, and suburban. We are working on our week 17 Social Studies Weekly. Students have access to the digital copy of this newspaper on through their Ready Hub account. This newspaper is due on Tuesday, January 22. Within our Living Wax project, we are working on writing interview scripts. We will film interviews in 2 weeks!
For homework, we will have spelling due on Friday, January 18 over the Single Syllable Homophones list.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
