Snapshot for September 9

Thank you so much for coming out to Meet the Teacher on Thursday night! We loved getting to spend the evening getting to talk to you and getting to know you.  If you were unable to attend, the PowerPoint is attached to this snapshot

This week, we will continue to assess students on their oral reading and comprehension skills using our Developmental Reading Assessments (DRAs). We will start the beginning of the year MAP assessments.  In class this week, we will continue reading our first novel study over Back to School, Mallory by Laurie Friedman.  We will also continue to focus on character traits and will focus on the changes we see the characters in our book undergo.  Next week’s focused skill will be on identifying different types of point of view.

In writing, we will continue our personal narrative unit.  We are writing short stories about one moment from our lives.  We wrap up our study of conjunctions and will start our study on common and proper nouns.  There will be a graded assignment of the four types of questions on Friday, September 13.

For homework, we will have spelling homework and a quiz over the “Long O” list on Friday, September 13.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
