Snapshot for September 17
Thank you to everyone who came Meet the Teacher this Thursday! We loved getting to spend the night with you! Attached you will find the PowerPoint presentation from Meet the Teacher. Please let us know if you have any questions. J
Next week is Cyber Safety Week! Attached is the Cyber Safety Poster Contest Flyer. Entries are due on September 21 if you would like to participate. I also attached the new Texas Bluebonnet Award Program that our amazing librarian, Mrs. Papa will be doing in the library this year!
On Tuesday and Thursday, we will have MAP testing first thing in the morning. Please send a jacket because the computer lab may be chilly. In class, we will get goals and talk about the importance of taking your time to show what you know on these assessments.
Next week, we will complete our novel study of Back to School, Mallory by Laurie Friedman. Students will have a test over the book on September 21. A study guide will be going home with students on Monday. We will focus on character traits and will focus on the changes we see the characters in our book undergo. We will also continue to focus on the structure of a fictional text and on identifying the plot elements. There are optional practice links on below.
In writing, we will continue our persuasive unit. Students will continue to write their rough draft of their persuasive piece. In grammar, we will focus on homophones. In Social Studies, we will continue our Map Skills Unit. There are optional practice links on below.
For homework, we will have our 100 minutes of at home reading assignment due on Monday, September 17. We will also have our spelling homework and test due on Friday, September 21 over the Single Syllable Homophones. We will continue to use the same spelling menu. All materials have been linked to the blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
