Next week, we have project presentations over our novel study of Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo. Our “Book the Forth” Quiz” and projects are due on Monday, April 16, 2018. A study guide went home last week and a digital copy is attached here. In reading, we will continue to focus on reviewing fiction reading skills, figurative language, and poetry. Students will continue to review these skill as they “race” through Amazing Race themed stations. These stations will allow students to practice these skills with STAAR formatted questions and “Minute-to-Win” styled activities. Please look below to see the blog post with pictures from last week. Please see the optional practice links below and on portaportal.com. Students will also take their Unit 5 District Reading Assessment on Friday, April 20.
This week students will continue their unit on persuasive writing. Please see the optional practice links below. They will also have time to continue their Fractured Fairytale Project. Students will take their Unit 5 District Writing Assessment on Wednesday, April 18.
Please see the attached letter regarding the optional Reading At Home Technology Challenge! that we have started in ELAR! As we prepare for our STAAR reading test, let’s see who can log the most time spent practicing reading skills at home! There will be prizes for the top technology times logged. Every Monday, students will have the opportunity to fill in a class chart to celebrate their accumulated practice time. The competition ends on May 7, 2017.
Please see the attached letter regarding the optional STAAR Prep Incentive Program that we have started in ELAR! Thank you to everyone who is taking the time to complete these optional activities. Please see the classroom blog for easy access to these resources. These are great ways to help practice skills and get ready for the STAAR, which is just right around the corner.
For homework, we will have our 100 minutes of at home reading assignment due on Monday, April 23. We will not have a TFK or Spelling assignment this week, due to Open House Night on Thursday. There was an optional Extra Credit assignment that was sent home on Friday. To receive credit for the optional extra credit, students have to use text evidence for their answers.
